The display village introduced innovative building design and construction methods with energy efficiency options using passive solar design, WaterWise gardens, and grey water and roof water reuse.

The range of innovative houses demonstrated how style, sustainability and affordability could be achieved without sacrificing design, construction and streetscape quality.

WA-based think tank FORM, local and state government representatives, mining companies, TAFE architecture and design students and real estate developers also visited the village to see first hand the possibilities for the future of housing.
